Beaches and Attractions
There are a variety of beaches, from small intimate coves to larger sandy beaches to suit all tastes. Some are close and others are within a short drive depending on choice.
Here are a few of our favourites.
One of the most dramatic and stunning coastal places in the UK. Amazing cliffs and rock formations. A small sandy beach with rock pools. A quick drive from Long Furlong and very popular with guests either as a beach or just to sit and look out to sea. Hartland Quay Hotel offers lunches and evening meals and together with its’ Wreckers Retreat Bar is a popular meeting place.
Breathtaking views to Bideford Bay, Lundy Island and the Cornish coast. The lighthouse perches on the edge over 350ft above sea level and just a short walk away light refreshments can be taken at the outdoor Hartland Point Café (seasonal).
Another completely unspoilt beach with far reaching views. Accessed by steps cut out of the rock leading to the beach.
Within walking distance of Long Furlong (20 minutes) however a wonderful view from above but due to erosion no foot access).
See the cottage where The Shell Seekers and Sense and Sensibility were filmed.
Located by walking from Brownsham
Spekes Mill Mouth
With its long curving beach voted one of the top ten beautiful unspoilt beaches. Boasting its famouse waterfall arguably one of the tallest on the Peninsula.
Sandy from mid-tide onwards, secluded and quiet. Rock pools
A favourite with guests. Located just beyond Kilkampton on the A39 towards Bude. Sandy when the tide is out. Rockpools. Café and toilets run by the National Trust.
A number of beaches surrounding Bude. Lots of sand and plenty of amenities.
Estuary beach with plenty of sand. Cafes, pubs and hotel
